HISTORICAL WALK AND TALK ABOUT THE
NORTHSHORE GREENWAY – SPRECKELSVILLE

The Nutrition and Physical Activity Coalition of Maui County (NPAC)  presents another Walk Talk and Grinds event, third in its series.  Lucienne de Naie will lead a short walk with historical commentary historical of the Northshore Greenway or Spreckelsville area.

De Naie will share her stories of research she has done over the past 15 years.  An active member of the Sierra Club,  de Naie has dedicated her time to preserving Maui’s unique character and history.  All are welcome to attend, January 25 at 4:30 pm, Kaunoa Senior Center, Room 101.  The educational walk is free and open to the community. Attendees are asked to park in the back of the Kaunoa buildings on the grass parking area.

Lucienne de Naie is a historical researcher and author who lives in Huelo. She has volunteered to lead historical walks for Sierra Club Maui and various other groups over the past 15 years and has been featured in several local fundraising auctions as a guest leader for local adventures. 

NPAC Maui County supports the completion of the Northshore Greenway, which is a proposed seven-mile pedestrian and bicycle friendly trail from Kahului to Paia.  Its purpose is to provide the community with a trail that will be used for recreation and transportation.  Its use will promote fitness and health, relaxation and solitude, fun and enjoyment, being outdoors and learning about nature by using this trail.  

NPAC Maui County is supported by the Healthy Hawaii Initiative, Hawaii State Department of Health and the Department of Health and Human Services “Communities Putting Prevention to Work Hawaii” – improving healthy eating and healthy activities, creating jobs and promoting sustainability on the island of Kauai and Maui.   The mission of NPAC Maui County is to improve the quality of life of Maui County residents by reducing obesity and chronic disease by promoting healthy eating and physical activity through environmental and policy changes education and awareness.
