Mahalo for Giving Back
Maui Tomorrow is grateful to be the recipient Hawaiian Paddle Sports monthly Donation for August 2014. This contribution will help our organization grow and continue to make an impact in our community.
In October 2012 Hawaiian Paddle Sports started raising money for cancer awareness when a close friend’s wife was battling cancer. They decided to continue their efforts by participating in “Movember” with a donation and raising awareness to men’s health for the month of November. Realizing the importance and benefits to giving back to our community, Hawaiian Paddle Sports continued to make monthly donations closing out 2012 with a donation to Maui Food Bank in December. They continue to add and rotate different charities and organizations and have made a monthly contribution ever since. See a full list of donations here: Maui Non-Profit Donations. The Hawaii Ecotourism Association (HEA) has recognized Hawaiian Paddle Sports for the contributions to our community and environment. HEA (http://www.hawaiiecotourism.org) certifies businesses that are distinguished leaders and committed to sustainable tourism, helping ensure the long-term viability of tourism in Hawaii. On top of monthly donations to the community, HPS uses stainless steel water bottles instead of single use plastic bottles, before every tour their guides do a beach clean, they have a “no touch” policy on all tours, making sure marine life is not disturbed or stressed. Reef safe sunscreen is available for purchase as a way for guests to participate in protecting our reef systems. The certified Marine Naturalist Guides at Hawaiian Paddle Sports educate their guests while being culturally sensitive. They stress the importance of protecting our fragile marine environment to their guests on all tours.
A great big Mahalo goes to Hawaiian Paddle Sports for their continued support of our organization and giving back to our community. It is because of businesses like these that our programs are successful and making a difference here in Maui.
