Popular Akaku Community Television show “Crossroads,” hosted by Lucienne de Naie, will be moving from Oceanic Time-Warner Cable Channel 52 to Channel 53 beginning in January of 2012. The show, which features “community conversations” among a wide variety of guests, will continue to be broadcast on Akaku each Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 pm. Only the broadcast channel will change.
Channel 53 is Akakū’s “Community Service” Channel featuring government and public issues programming, such as Maui County Council meetings, government and community forums, public hearings, and national and world issues programming.
“We are excited to be side by side with these other community service broadcasts,” de Naie stated.
The first Crossroads show on the new channel will debut Tuesday, January 3 with a topic of: “Maui’s Green Jobs Future.” Dr. Jennifer Chirico, of Sustainable living institute of Maui (SLIM) will discuss the many green job training opportunities coming up at UH Maui College and the growing green job sector of Maui’s economy.
The Crossroads show may also be accessed each Tuesday evening, streaming live during broadcast times at akaku.org by selecting the “view channel 53” button. For addition information or to suggest a show topic, contact the show host at laluz@maui.net.
