Maui Tomorrow Foundation has partnered with the Maui Film Festival on the “Trees Please” project. This effort, to raise funds to replant native trees at Baldwin Beach Park, has begun with the screening in October of three films at Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater.
The films, “George Harrison, Living in the Material World;” “Pearl Jam 20,” and “I Am” raised $3000 to replace trees lost to coastal erosion. Local native plant nurseries have stepped forward to donate trees to the project and community members are also signing up, willing to contribute the manpower to make this replanting happen
Maui Tomorrow is currently working with the County of Maui’s Parks and Planning departments for the required permits needed to move the project forward. Look for updates on our website as we prepare for a “Trees Please” planting sometime in early 2012.
Join us! This is part of our effort to create a chain of North Shore Parks.
