Maui Tomorrow is celebrating its 30th birthday this year, right where it all began – at Mākena State Park. The community is invited to join us at our beach party on Saturday, October 12th from 11am – 3pm. We will be having a potluck picnic near Third Entrance.
Did you know that 40 years ago, Mākena State Park was in danger of being covered by beachfront luxury condos? Preserving this 155-acre beach park for the future enjoyment of Maui families and visitors was a major victory for the thousands of local citizens who united and worked for years to create it. Maui Tomorrow was formed during the decade-long effort to save these coastal Mākena lands from development, and to protect them for the future enjoyment of all of Maui’s people. Maui Tomorrow is proud to continue to be a strong voice speaking out and standing with our community for sensible planning that delivers real benefits for Maui’s families, and respects our natural and cultural resources.
Please join us on October 12th! Bring your favorite picnic dish, your beach chairs and mats, your musical instruments, and your family and friends. Some basic refreshments will be provided. We hope to see you there!
