A group of Sprecklesville homeowners wish to install concrete groins to protect their small beach from erosion. This sets a bad precedent of owners expanding out into the ocean. The original temporary groins were shown to have eroded beaches downstream.
Maui Tomorrow is concerned that this erosion will move downstream to Kanaha Beach and that this sets a bad precedent.
“Planned Retreat” is a better way to deal with the rising oceans and inevitable beach erosion.
